Here's to Falling by Christine Zolendz

Here's to Falling by Christine Zolendz

Every girl has that one guy…that one guy who steals her heart and never gives it back.

We were all friends…until we weren’t.
We depended on each other…until we couldn’t.
We were in love…until we were ripped apart.
We moved on…even when we didn’t want to let go.

This is our love story.

**This standalone novel contains material that some may find disturbing. Intended for mature readers only.

This book was inspired "By True Events".

5+ Unforgettable stars!

Nope. I don't have any reviews for this book. But here's some advice if you still want to read through this.

Stop.

Stop reading this review and just read the book. Trust me. The BEST way to read the book is going to it blind, with just the blurb to give the hint of what the story is or are all about.

I encourage you to refrain from reading any reviews, much more sneak a look for spoilers. And if in the duration of your reading you are tempted to peak in the next few pages to know what happens next.

Please. Don't. You'll thank me for it later.

Read it from word to the next word. Sentence after sentence. One page to the next. Chapter to chapter.

Before you know it you'll be laughing or giggling from reading something funny. You'll have tears in your eyes. You'll have to stop to take a little break. A little breathing space to ease some ache. Wipe a tear or two from your eyes. And release the breath you didn't realize you've been holding until you've read the last chapter. And smile.

But if you still want a little more push. Here it is:

"I've heard people say that what you remember is not the whole truth; it's our thoughts of what we wanted things to be remembered as.
They believe that we change our memories, that we just fabricate them into pasts that we can live with.
Do I believe that?
No. I believe I remember, every little detail."

The story shifts from past to present and commence with the younger Joey, Charlie and Jase. (And no, it's not a love triangle.) The innocence and friendship of these three was a delight to read and you'll experience them growing up, until they turn 17, when everything happened and Charlotte "Charlie" Stone's life was changed.
"Remember I told you about my BOOM..That was my first one..It wrecked me..My next BOOM, it completely destroyed me."
I'm not sure how to write something without giving away anything. All I can say is that when things went downhill you'll probably have the urge to stop reading. Because some of the things that happened will not be easy to read.

"...one day you'll feel like your world is crashing, spinning out of control, whatever the Hell that is to you, whatever storm that comes, whatever tragedy floods your life....believe me we all get touched by some tragedy in our lives."

Charlie was one of the characters that I admire the most, she was so innocent as a child, feisty and witty as a teenager. And a totally different person as an adult. The things she went through... those are not easy. Not for anyone.

"I didn't want to one of those girls who needed to be rescued.
I didn't want to be one of those girls who wanted to be rescued.
I wanted to be the heroine of one of those books where I rescued myself."

I admire her strength and courage, for writing her story. For sharing what she went through.

"This wasn't how my story was supposed to be written. This wasn't the way I wanted my story to go.So I needed to rewrite it.Word for word.Rewritten.Because I was so young. So young. And utterly broken."

It was an emotional roller coaster ride. It will make you laugh so hard, it will make you bawl, and then will make you lie on the floor while you collect your self up. I don't want to give away too much, because one of the thrill in reading this story was the mystery. But trust me, things will get better.

"Our kisses healed our tears. Our touches healed our sadness, and we healed each other. There was nothing that could ever come between us.We were each other's forever."

This is a story about love, innocence, first love, true love, friendship, and loyalty. I hope you are convince by this review to read the book already. You can find it at the link below.

"Come on, Charlie, come with me down the rabbit hole...I promise I'll be better than any adventure you could ever read."

Sawyer Bennett: Zack (A Cold Fury Hockey Novel #3)

Expected Publication Date: June 9, 2015

Rising star Zack Grantham has been stuck in a downward spiral of grief ever since the car accident that left him a single dad and put his career on hold. Back on the road with the Carolina Cold Fury and still crippled by emotional baggage, he’s in need of some serious help with his son. But while the nerdy new nanny wins his son’s heart, Zack isn’t sure he’s ready for a woman’s touch—even after getting a glimpse of the killer curves she’s hiding under those baggy clothes.

Kate Francis usually keeps men like Zack at a distance. Though his athlete’s body is honed to perfection, he refuses to move on with his life—and besides, he’s her boss. Still, the sparks between them are undeniable, tempting Kate to turn their professional relationship into a personal one. But before she makes a power play for Zack’s wounded heart, Kate will have to open him up again and show him that love is worth the fight.

4.5 Stars.

I must admit when I started reading this series, I wasn't really that excited as I am not a Hockey fan. there are some terminologies that i just couldn't get but i must admit that the first 2 books in this series got me interested and i keep on wanting more from these hot players!

Zack is a Carolina Cold Fury Hockey Player and he got into an accident that killed his partner and mother of his child. He was devastated and he was left alone to look and care for his kid, the adorable Ben. Entered the geeky live in nanny, Kate. She was pretty cute with her geeky and dorky attitude but beneath that facade is a superlicious hot babe. Just what Zack needed. Kate is pretty good with her job taking care of little Ben and that made her off limits to Zack. He couldn't afford to loose Kate just because he's attracted to her - but their chemistry is off the charts that they just have to give in, but Zack is still hurting from and with all his past issues he couldn't commit himself to Kate. They have the no strings attached sexual relationship but as their affair goes further Kate started to hope and one day she just couldn't take anymore the hot-cold attitude of Zack. Ugh. I hate Zack but I guess that was part Sawyer's plan because it's really sweet and caveman-ish on how Zack claimed Kate back. :)

Zack for me is the best among the 3. It is recommended that you read the first 2 stories in the series to better understand what happened to Zack but this can be read as a stand alone. Highly recommended for Hockey and Sawyer Bennett Fans out there! :)

Samantha Young - Hero

Samantha Young - Hero

The emotional and unforgettable new romance from the New York Times bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series.

Alexa Holland’s father was her hero—until her shocking discovery that she and her mother weren't his only family. Ever since, Alexa has worked to turn her life in a different direction and forge her own identity outside of his terrible secrets. But when she meets a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as she is,  Alexa must help him.

Caine Carraway wants nothing to do with Alexa’s efforts at redemption, but it’s not so easy to push her away. Determined to make her hate him, he brings her to the edge of her patience and waits for her to walk away. But his actions only draw them together and, despite the odds, they begin an intense and explosive affair.

Only Caine knows he can never be the white knight that Alexa has always longed for. And when they're on the precipice of danger, he finds he’ll do anything to protect either one of them from being hurt again…

oOo Tere's Review oOo

3 Words. Oh. Holy. Wow.

I was blown away with this book. It has all the elements that I love in a story. Office Romance? Check. Smart ass Heroine? Check. Dark and Brooding Hero, Triple Check. Witty Banters? Check. Revenge at its Finest? Check. Sexy as Fuck Love Scenes, OMFG, hells yeah CHECK. Scenes that will make your heart ache, oh yesss, Check!

The gist of the story is about Alexa Holland who thought all her life that her father was perfect, until she found out that her father is not as perfect as he seemed. She found out that he was the reason for a family to fall apart, and for one young boy whose childhood was ruined because of his father's weakness.

That boy was now a man and none other than the successful and sexier than sin Caine Carraway. Alexa met Caine face to face during a magazine photo shoot in which she was the PA to the Photographer and Caine will be featured. Instantly she felt a connection and perhaps guilt on what her father had done to Caine's family so she just blurted out who she was to Caine and Caine just cancelled the whole shoot and got Alexa fired from her job.

I really liked Alexa a lot. She is just the type of heroine who is a smart ass and could care less about her appearance. She's sexy and she knows it and she's confident about herself. She also stood for herself so instead of backing down when she got fired she went to Caine and asked him to call her boss to get her job back, or at least remove her from being blacklisted so she could find another job.

and Caine. oh Caine. i have a new favorite Book Boyfriend. Oh boy. He is arrogant and oozing with sexiness. He was so pissed at Alexa but he still knew that Alexa doesn't deserved to get fired so when he called her previous employer and he doesn't want to re-hire Alexa, Caine offered Alexa to be his Personal Assistant instead.

And so the fun begins. Oh my. Caine was just a pain in the ass with all his outrageous requests to Alexa, Totally the boss from hell - in a kind of like the Devil Wears Prada way. But Alexa won't back down. Ugh. the Sexual Tension between them is Electrifying! Their office banters alone felt like i was reading a foreplay on each page! I LOVE IT!

You can totally feel the attraction between them but both of them are fighting it. They just get insanely jealous with all the other people that got close with each other, may it be another client or best friend or blind dates.  Until they finally gave in and started a secret no strings attached relationship.

The push/pull, hot/cold character of Caine can be a little bit confusing and tiring at times, but as the story progressed you will just realized why it is needed in the story. There was just a sadness that i felt on how his childhood turned out and how he had to survive. He was having a hard time expressing how he feels. I almost gave up on him just like Alexa, but he redeemed himself in the end and i fell in love with him even more.

And Effie. oh, this story will never be the same without her. She was just the bomb! i love her too!!

I am a certified Samantha Young fanatic, but i must say that among the On Dublin Street Series, On Dublin Street is the only one that really captured my taste and the others might be good stories too but all i can say is Samantha did a pretty darn good job with Hero. It is a MUST READ.

Favorite Lines: (LOTSS) :)

“As I said, it comes with a price.” His grin was wicked and I suddenly felt a little breathless. “I’m a hard man to please. And I’m also a very busy man. You’ll do what I want when I want and I won’t always be nice about it. In fact, considering what your surname is, you can pretty much guarantee I won’t be nice about it.”
--

"Tomorrow you'll receive your employment contracts. Once you sign those I'm your boss." When I didn't answer he said, "That means you act the way I want you to act. That means you shelve your attitude and the twenty questions."
"Should I shelve those next to 'personality'?"

--

"You cannot kill your boss on the first day, you cannot kill your boss on the first day, you cannot kill your boss period …"
--

“She wanted me to tell you that she made your favorite—banana cream pie.” I grinned with faux sweet innocence. “You’re to stop by tonight for a piece.”

The unhappiness radiating from him would have quelled any normal person into silence—or at least wiped the stupid teasing smile off their face. But I never claimed to be normal. Nope, I was enjoying his obvious discomfort, because it meant I had found something real out about him, and I was eager to learn more about the charming Mrs. Flanagan.

“Get out of my office, Alexa.”
--

“Alexa,” he warned.

“You know you can call me Lexie.”

Caine actually growled.

“Okay,” I hurried to explain, “I had them write ‘Phoebe, I look forward to seeing you tonight, Caine.’ And”—I almost closed my eyes in preparation for his reaction—“I may have put a little kiss at the end.”

The air around him seemed to swell with annoyance. “What?”

“An X. You know … a kiss …” I trailed off, wishing I was back in Hawaii with a mojito.

Quite abruptly Caine put his hands on the armrests of my chair and shoved it against the desk as he bent down to level his face with mine. He was so close I could actually see the chocolate coloring in his eyes that stopped them from being entirely black, and his mouth … his mouth was but an inch from mine.

I held my breath from the shock of his sudden movement and his closeness.

“First of all,” he said through clenched teeth, his hard stare holding mine in its grip, “do I look like a man who would ever put a kiss at the end of a message?”
--

 “I want your tongue back.”

“And you’ll get it.” He pulled away only to tug his shirt off impatiently.

--
“Do you know how sexy you are?”

“I do now,” I replied softly.

--

Seattle? With Caine? In a hotel?
I’d either kill him or screw him again.
“Fuck.”
“Alexa, the speakerphone is on,” Caine’s amused voice sounded from my desk.

Oh, balls.

--
“Ungentlemanliness?” he teased. “I dare you to say that five times fast.”

--
“I presume you realize he wants to fuck you.”

I wrinkled  my nose in distaste at his crudeness. “You really took my word for it on the whole not-pretending-to-be-a-gentleman thing, huh?”

--

“Say it.” He almost slid all the way out of me. “Say you’re mine.”

“I’m yours, I’m yours,” I agreed, barely cognizant of what I was agreeing to.

--
“You are so arrogant.”

“Pot, meet Kettle.”

--
“You know, some people are good at something and they don’t realize how good they are at it. It’s called being humble and modest.”

He shook his head, grinning as he pushed me onto my back. “I’m neither of those things. It sounds boring.”

--
Without a word he started stalking down the street in the opposite direction my grandparents had taken. I started after him, my steps slower.

And then quite abruptly Caine whipped around and marched back toward me. Features etched with determination, he yanked me roughly to him and crushed his mouth down over mine. I made a noise of surprise in the back of my throat before my instincts took over. I couldn’t help sinking into his kiss.

When he finally let me go we were both breathing hard. Caine smoothed his thumb over my cheek, his eyes still dark with passion and anger.

“I could give a fuck who saw that.”

--
“I love you,” I choked out against his warm chest.

In answer, Caine gently pulled me away, just far enough so he could look into my face. I was tearstained, swollen-faced, and exhausted. I was a mess. But he stared at me as if I were the only person in the room, and as if I was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen.
His voice was gruff as he confessed, “I love you too.”

Desolate by Ker Dukey

Desolate is coming...are you ready?

“Why are you all quiet?” He asks coming towards me with his arms spread out to take me into them like he has a thousand times before, but I step away, I won’t find the solace they have always offered me in them this time, I just can’t do this anymore. It’s like I have been swallowed by my nightmares and I can’t wake up. “My silence should speak a thousand words, it should tell you how loud your voice is speaking with the lies burning your tongue and the damage it is causing to us” A tear leaks on to my cheek and scorches a trail down my face like acid.
